1967-68 Chevy Camaro SS

T he racing stripe wrapped around its nose distinguished the 1967 Camaro SS from others of its kind, and the SS emblems emblazoned there and elsewhere were quick reminders that this car was capable of some serious motoring.

While the standard Camaro SS came with a 295-horsepower engine, it was the company’s offerings later that same year that prompted attention. Along with a 325-horsepower mill, there was the thumping high-cam 375-horsepower engine – a favorite of street and drag racers.

There were problems early on with rear wheel hop on hard acceleration, especially with the more powerful versions, but the overall performance and ride of Camaro SS was exciting – much more of what you would expect in a European sports car. –LS
