Itasca Navion & Navion iQ
Overview and specs to come. Photo gallery at right.
L uxury comes in many forms, some big, some small. In the world of luxury motorhomes many assume that to have maximum luxury you need maximum size. Proving you don’t need to have a bus wider than the road it’s on, the Itasca Navion surrounds you in the luxury you deserve. One of the most stylish on the market, the Navion is everything you could want in a class C motorhome. Quality is assured by Itasca, being the sister company of the well known Winnebago.
Unlike many in its class, the Navion is not built on a standard Ford van chassis, with limited comfort; Itasca chose the new Dodge Sprinter chassis. Compared with a standard Ford or GM chassis motorhome, the Navion is a bit smaller. However due to clever design enabled by the Sprinter chassis, interior space remains excellent. The Navion has enough room to fit a full bath and galley, and sleep three adults. This is all improved over the 2007 model with a new improved chassis design, with two chassis choices and three floorplan options to suit your traveling needs. All three floorplans feature a galley that makes cooking a breeze, with a stainless steel Biraldi range hood that compliments the round stainless steel sink with cover. Also included are a microwave/convection oven, three-burner range top and refrigerator/freezer.
Offering your choice of two Mercedes-Benz engines; a powerful, fuel efficient turbo-diesel, or a sporty 3.5L V6 gasoline engine, getting what you need from your Navion should be easy.
A smooth shifting 5-speed automatic transmission and independent front suspension ensure a comfortable journey
The Navion is an excellent choice for a long weekend trip to any corner of the country, especially if you find yourself trekking through any sort of urban area. An easy to manage 23.5 foot turning radius and four wheel anti-lock brakes make the drive easy for any driver, on any road. One serious drawback is its somewhat miniscule 3500 pound towing capacity, limiting the towing to that of a small car or boat; (it won’t be towing your classic muscle car to any shows.)
So don’t let the size fool you, the Navion can do the many of the jobs of its big brothers, with comfort and style to spare. Proving its luxury status, base Navion models prices start at $78,872, but throw in some extras and you can find yourself around $85,500.
