2010 Ski-Doo Summit Everest
I t's a good thing the engineers at Ski-Doo don't believe in packing on the pounds for the winter months. In fact, they did just the opposite. The Summit Everest sports Ski-Doo's new REV-XP platform, the lightest chassis on the market. That makes a big difference in the backcountry, where the snow is deep and the hills are steep. Drop in either of Ski-Doo's muscular powerplants and you've got one very lean and very mean mountain machine.
The Summit Everest is loaded with features tailor-made for the high country. A sculpted fuel tank and a new taller and narrower seat should improve transitioning from side-to-side and sitting and standing positions. Extended handlebars and wide running boards provide great leverage and extra confidence while standing in the deep powder.
SC-5M rear suspension keeps the sled flatter when climbing but still allows enough lift to climb on top of the powder. In the front, long A-arms and HPG shocks ensure cushy landings. New calibration this year should help improve handling in the fluff.
Ski-Doo's 16-inch wide PowderMax tracks, available in 146, 154 or 163-inch lengths will have you up floating on the snow and carving with hefty 6.9-inch Pilot skis.
Power comes from either a Rotax 600 High Output E-TEC, with electronic direct injection or an 800R Power T.E.K. Both combine great performance and impressive fuel economy. MSRP for the Ski-Doo 600 E-Tec is $9599, for the 800R Power T.E.K., $10,299.
