32-Foot Born Free President RV
A t first glance, you might think of it as a full-size van on extra-large steroids. But that’s where the similarity ends. The Born Free President is a more than capable recreational vehicle, with a sleek aerodynamic design and a sweeping molded fiberglass body that provide pleasurable amenities and sure-footed driving.
Like larger, more luxurious and much more costly RVs, the President has accommodations for cooking, bathing and relaxing, but on a slightly smaller scale. And if you’re a believer in “smaller is better,” the Born Free President simply makes sense.
The 32-foot President, the flagship model from Born Free Motorcoach, is built atop a powerful Chevrolet Kodiak C5500 truck chassis, providing impressive power and handling, not to mention towing capacity. It’s the latest in a long family line of recreational vehicles built by Born Free. The President sleeps up to six adults and features much the same interior space as larger Class-A (bus conversion) homes, but at a more reasonable cost. –LS

Born Free President by Sean Foege
Y ou’ve worked hard to design your garage and home to be perfect. Attention to every detail is a must. When you travel you should expect the same perfection in mobile form. Enter the Born Free President motorhome; the new flagship model from Born Free motorcoach of Humboldt, Iowa. Apropos for its name, the President model is designed for comfort and prestige down to every last bolt. Built on the GM C5500 truck chassis as its foundation, the 32 foot class-C luxury motorhome features nearly the same interior space and features of larger class-A (bus conversion) homes, but in a considerably more drivable package; this model still sleeps up to six adults.
The choice of chassis was key to making the President all it could be. The GM chassis is sturdier and tougher than the usual Ford van or Dodge Sprinter models available. This allows the cab to be a full 101.5 inches wide with an amazing gross vehicle weight rating of 19,500 pounds; a full 5,000 pounds above the typical GVWR of a type C. This makes packing easy since you can load it with up to 3,500 pounds of cargo (and people) and still have strength enough to tow an additional 5000 pounds. So hauling your 1961 Jaguar E-Type to the show shouldn’t be an issue.
The extra weight available to the designers was used well to place every luxurious amenity you could need in the President. The moment you enter inside, a sense of elegance exudes from the incredible fit and finish within.
Liberal use of handcrafted wood trim and oak cabinetry can be found throughout the unit forming a smooth flow. Appointing all furniture, including the cockpit chairs, is Ultraleather, a modern leather alternative which provides long lasting, low maintenance quality with a supple softness, realistic graining and all-temperature comfort that has been said to be better than the real thing.
The full-service, state-of-the-art galley comes equipped with everything you could need for cooking in a well thought out arrangement. The living area, which allows multiple configuration options, features a 20” flat screen TV with a built in Bose Wave Radio. A spacious bathroom includes a sizable shower, lots of usable storage, and porcelain toilet. Spend your nights in a comfortable stateroom which comes with a Select Comfort Sleep System queen bed.
The President is a well designed motorhome that can provide years of comfortable travel, without leaving the luxurious lifestyle at home. This is one president whose vote comes easy.
